Introduction: You are going to learn about my bime called the boreal forest also known as the taiga. This place is in between the Tundra and the Deciduous Forest.

Climate:The winters lowest temperature is -65 degrees farinheit. The winters highest temperture is 30 degrees farinheit. The summers lowest temperature is 30 degrees farinheit. the summers highest temperature is 70 degrees farinheit. The average climate in the Boreal Forest each year ussually goes under -32 degrees farinheit or even as low as -76 degrees farinheit. In the summer it can get up to 104 degrees farinheit. For six months of the year, the boreal forest is below freezing temperature. In summer months it is humid and that is when the precipitation comes in.

Weather/Precipitation: The precipitation recived total is about 12-33 inches or 30-85 centimeters a year. Sometimes in the winter some snow is recived but most precipatation is recived in summer months. The winters are long and cold while the summers have short days and is humid. The summers never last more than 1-3 months. the seasons in my biome are winter, summer, and autumn/fall. The growing season is only for 130 days. Precipitation is mostly in the form of snow.

Snow is what ussually falls in the Boreal Forest

Location:The Boreal Forest is located in Canada,Sweden,Alaska,Finland,Norway, Kazakhstan,Japan,Russia,Mongolia, the U.S,Europe,Asia,Scandinavia,Siberia, and New Zealand.Boreal Forests are located between the Tundra and Deciduous Forest. Since the biome is between the tundra and the Decidous Forest the winters are really, really cold ,while the summers are sunny for days because it is close to the top of the world.

Trees/Plants:The types of trees that are in the Boreal Forest are a Jack Pine ussaully grows between 27 meters tall.White Poplar trees do not live very long.Paper Birch have thin bark.Siberian Spruce can grow up to 30meters tall.Douglas-Firs are not the most important lumber trees.Balsam Fir is a small medium sized tree.Eastern Red Cedar trees prefer full sun.White Fir can live up to 300years.White Spruce needles are ussually 2.5cm long. In the boreal forest the trees do not loose their leaves, the cone shape they have helps their leaves survive the winter. The branches droop toward the ground to let any snow off of the branches. The needles on the tree help to keep it warm in the winter. The boreal forest tends to have the same plants for acres and acres, the lack of diversity is very interesting. Fall is when the leaves fall off of the trees and change color. The Jack Pine is one of the trees that keeps this cone shape. The species the tree is in is Banksianna. This tree the tree usually grows 27 meters tall. the tree grows in sandy soils and hilly places.

Animals: The animals of the Boreal Forest are American Black Bear which can run up to 25 mph.The Bald Eagle weighs a mere 10-12puonds. A Bob Cat is only 2 feet long. The Canadian/northern lynx is not very common and looks like a regular house cat but biger.A Gray Wolf is the largest wild canine.Grizzly Bears have omnivore teeth. The Long-Eared Owl hunts mainly at night.A Red Fox is the largest of the true fox.Female River Otters give birth underground.Snowshoe Rabbits are white when snow comes and then there fur changes color.Wolverines are born stocky and muscular.Bohemian Waxwing birds ar ussually 18-21cm long.Hawk Owl ussually starts mating in March.Pine Grosbeak birds can be many different species.Red-throated Loon is a water bird that also migrates.Ermine is a short tailed weasel.Earasian Beaver almost became extinct!Europeian Red Squirrel is a type of rodent.Martens are solitary animals. But the most fasanating animal in the boreal forest is the Moose. The Moose is a mammal, it only eats plants like the little bit of grass on the ground of the forest. The Mosse can be as tall as 8 1/4 - 9 3/4 feet. The Moose is also called Eurasian elk in Europe. A female Moose is called Cow and a male Moose is called a Bull. Their long legs and thick bodies help the Moose move throw snow and wet places. The hair on their bodies help insulate their bodies in the cold winter months. The two large hooves on on the Mooses feet help it not to sink into the snow. Their fur begins to get thicker in the winter months.
